I have now come to realize most of my early works suck, and I leave them up for one reason only, and that is to set an example. One tactic I use and have used to check the quality of my writing is I read terrible, terrible stories and then list the reasons why the stories are terrible (privately, of course) and then look at my own work, looking for the qualities on my list. It's a useful tool for new and advanced writers, and I leave up my old, terrible works so that new, inexperienced writers can do what I did- they can read my crappy stories, and they can use them to better understand how to write well. Random thought, out in the world!
